Aquatic Originals Taxidermy
Fish Mount Gallery

David and fiberglass mount of a 36-pound king salmon from the Unalakleet River. 1990

FYI concerning reproduction (replica) mounts - With a length and girth measurement, and good color photo we can give you an approximate (NOT EXACT) facsimile of your trophy. There are rumors about that with 3d printer technology, you get an EXACT copy of your fish from just the measurements and photo. If we have the original specimen (ie dead fish) we can make a very close copy of what God made, making an exact copy is beyond the capability of a human taxidermist. It would require killing the fish and 3d printer technology to come any closer. I know of zero taxidermists even attempting this.

That said, there are certain kinds of fish that make good skin mounts, like bass, while most others come with inherent difficulties that while possible to mount the skin, a replica done well will make a more realistic, and longer lasting mount. These are catfish, trout, salmon, crappie, and striped bass and other salt water species. We don't do replicas of these fish because we can't skin and mount them. We can, and as good as any, and better than most, skin mount vs. skin mount. We choose which species not to skin mount because we want to give you the best quality we can, and a copy of what God made is better than anything man made.

More photos of 24-inch Largemouth bass replica mounts from the same mold. While one fish gave its life, we made the mold, which can make dozens of copies. This is why a color photo helps - no two fish are exactly alike.
